Cattle Breeding Farm – Bhuj, Dist. Kutch

With an objective for conservation and improvement of Indigenous Cattle Breed i.e Kankrej, Cattle Breeding Farm has been established at Bhuj during the year 1956.

Cattle Breeding Farm has been handed over to Gujarat Livestock Development Board during the year 2006.

Efforts have been made to conserve the pure breed by scientific rearing of animals at Cattle Breeding Farm.

High genetic merit bulls for natural service are supplied to Grampanchayat, Gaushalas and Panjarapoles, where facilities for artificial insemination are not available. These bulls are supplied from Cattle Breeding Farm at token price on recommendation of District Animal Husbandry Officer. During the year 2017-18, total 7 Kankrej bulls have been supplied for breeding at token price.

State sponsored scheme has been sanctioned for construction of new infrastructure to replace the severely damaged and risky infrastructure of Cattle Breeding Farm – Bhuj. At present construction work is in progress for new infrastructure of farm including Animal sheds, Grass godown, Tubewell, water storage tank and office etc.
